RESPONSIBILITY IN SOCIETY
We at Aēme think that sustainable practices are important. Above all, we support artisan goods of the
highest caliber that are built to last the Aēme customer's lifetime. We carefully source our materials in
Italy utilizing durable and natural materials to guarantee that Aēme goods endure a lifetime. The leathers
we use are leftovers from many industries, and each part we select is the best quality one can find. Aēme
items are made by a multitude of hands, sinceeach one is crafted by highly talented artisans who have honed
their technique over centuries of history. Every product is made by hand, and we know the artists who create
them—from the pattern cutter to the seamstress to the last detail—which is essential to the Aēme philosophy.
We only collaborate with factories that uphold our standards for worker rights, which include paying a livable
wage, providing sufficient protection for their health and safety, and preventing harassment or discrimination
at work.
AVAILABILITY OF MATERIALS
We prefer using animal leather over synthetic leather when creating our purses and small leather goods, and we work with biproduct
leathers from different industries. These leathers may take up to 100 years to biodegrade if we didn't utilize them.
Our goal is to raise this percentage on a seasonal basis. Recycled and organic fabrics are new additions to our offerings. Among them is organic cotton, which has been approved by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which is in charge of setting the processing guidelines for organic fibers and guarantees that no pesticides were used throughout the cotton's growth, keeping the soil, air, and water uncontaminated.
FOOTPRINT
Since nearly all of our goods are handmade, fewer machines and hence fewer emissions are required. Every piece of leather
and material we use is found locally in concentrated areas of Italy, and it is transported by road to our makers. As a result,
we ship in big batches to lessen our carbon footprint.
THE PACKAGING
While the paper used in our shoe and handbag boxes is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which ensures the
paper comes from certified forests or arises from post-consumer waste, our protective branded dust bags are manufactured
from cotton that has received GOTS certification.
Reducing purchases is the first step towards a more sustainable future. At Aēme, we promote
responsible shopping, repairing and reusing goods, and buying the finest they can afford.
We meticulously build our designs to last and aim to transcend current trends with our products.
Aēme is dedicated to advancing its research and introducing more sustainable practices throughout
the company.
